China's MIIT Releases October 2019 Telecom Stats; 4G Penetration Reaches 79.4%

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its October 2019 national telecom industry statistics. China's total number of mobile service subscribers rose by just 640,000 during the month to reach 1.599 bln.

As of the end of October 2019, China's total number of 4G mobile service subscribers exceeded 1.269 bln, comprising 79.4% of the country's total mobile service subscriber base.
In calculating the figures for change since the end of 2018, the MIIT used the data from its 2018 annual report.
In calculating the fixed-line telephone and mobile subscriber penetration rates in the table above, the MIIT used China's 2018 year-end population size.
