China's MIIT Releases Jan-Feb 2020 Telecom Statistics; Mobile Subs Drop to 1.58 Bln

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its national telecom industry statistics for the 2-month period from January to February 2020. China's total number of mobile service subscribers dropped by over 21.4 mln during the period to 1.580 bln.

As of the end of February 2020, China's total number of 4G mobile service subscribers had dropped to slightly under 1.263 bln, comprising 79.9% of the country's total mobile service subscriber base.
In calculating the figures for change since the end of 2019, the MIIT used the data from its December 2019 monthly report.
In calculating the fixed-line telephone and mobile subscriber penetration rates in the table above, the MIIT used China's 2019 year-end population size.
