China's MIIT Releases Jan-Feb 2023 Telecom Industry Statistics

Mainland China's Jan-Feb 2023 telecom industry revenues reached RMB 280.3 bln, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.9%, according to new figures released today by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Wireline Broadband Service Revenue Up 6.9% YoY
In Jan-Feb 2023, total wireline broadband service revenues generated by China's three main telecom operators (China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom) reached RMB 41.47 bln, up 6.9% YoY, accounting for 14.8% of total telecom industry revenues, and driving growth of telecom industry revenues by 1.0 percentage point.
Mobile Data Traffic Revenue Up Just 0.1% YoY
In Jan-Feb 2023, total mobile data traffic revenues generated by China's three main telecom operators reached RMB 107.9 bln, up just 0.1% YoY, accounting for 38.5% of telecom industry revenues, and driving growth of total telecom industry revenues by 0.1 percentage points.
Emerging Services Revenue Grew Rapidly
In Jan-Feb 2023, total emerging services revenues - such as such as IPTV, internet data centers, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) - generated by China's three main telecom operators reached RMB 62.9 bln, up 25.7% YoY, accounting for 22.4% of total telecom industry revenues, and driving growth of telecom industry revenues by 5.0 percentage points.
Mobile Voice Service Revenue Up 4.1% YoY
In Jan-Feb 2023, total fixed voice service revenues generated by China's three main telecom operators reached RMB 3.14 bln, down 4.5% YoY, and mobile voice service revenues reached RMB 18.4 bln, up 4.1% YoY. Fixed and mobile voice service revenues combined accounted for 7.7% of total telecom industry revenues, a decrease of 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.
