MIIT Releases China's Mar 2024 Wireline Broadband Account Totals by Province

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics detailing the country's total number of wireline broadband accounts by province as of the end of March 2024. China finished the month with over 647 mln wireline broadband accounts, representing a net increase of 10.9 mln accounts compared to the end of December 2023.
Among China's total wireline broadband accounts, 617.7 mln (95.5%) were FTTH/O accounts, 611.8 mln (94.5%) were 100 Mbps or faster, and 177.4 mln (27.4%) were 1 Gbps or faster.
The five provinces with the highest penetration of Gigabit internet as a percentage of the province's total number of wireline broadband accounts were Guizhou with 36.7%, followed by Tianjin (35.3%), Hubei (33.7%), Jiangsu (33.4%), and Gansu (32.7%). The five provinces with the lowest penetration of Gigabit internet were Liaoning (16.4%), Shanxi (17.4%), Jilin (18.6%), Chongqing (18.9%), and Heilongjiang (21.2%).
