MIIT: China's Mobile Subscriber Base Up 8.4 Mln in September 2025

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its national telecom industry statistics for the month of September 2025, during which China's total number of mobile phone subscribers rose to 1.828 bln, representing a net increase of approximately 8.42 mln month-on-month and 37.95 mln since the end of 2024. Among this total, China's number of 5G mobile phone subscribers reached 1.167 bln, representing net increases of approximately 13 mln month-on-month and 153 mln since the end of 2024, and comprising 63.9% of China's total mobile phone subscriber base.

China's total number of cellular IOT connections reached approximately 2.888 bln during the month of September, up 16 mln month-on-month and 232 mln since the end of 2024.

During the month of September, China's total number of deployed 5G base stations increased by approximately 60,000 to reach 4.705 mln, comprising 36.6% of the nation's total mobile base stations.

China's total number of wireline broadband accounts reached 695 mln during the month of September, up approximately 6.01 mln month-on-month and 24.86 mln since the end of 2024. Among these, accounts providing speeds of 100 Mbps or faster comprised 661 mln, or 95.2%, and accounts providing speeds of 1,000 Mbps or faster comprised 235 mln, or 33.9%, up 28.39 mln since the end of 2024.

China's total number of internet TV (IPTV and OTT) subscribers reached 412 mln by the end of September, representing net increases of approximately 320,000 month-on-month and 4.57 mln since the end of 2024.
