MIIT: China's Mobile Subscriber Base Down 800,000 in December 2024

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released its national telecom industry statistics for the month of December 2024, during which China's total number of mobile service subscribers decreased by 0.8 mln to slightly less than 1.790 bln.
Other national totals as of the end of December 2024 were as follows:

Notes:
1. In calculating the figures for change since the end of 2023, the MIIT used data from its 2023 Annual Telecom Statics Report.
2. In calculating fixed-line telephone and mobile handset subscriber penetration rates, the MIIT used China's 2024 year-end national population data.
3. In the statistics set detailed above, the MIIT did not provide any 5G subscriber data, but in a separate report released the same day, the MIIT announced that as of the end of December 2024, China had approximately 1.014 bln 5G subscribers.
