Rumor: GPON Takes 90% of China Mobile FTTx Bids

An industry source has revealed that results have surfaced from China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) first FTTx procurement bidding, with GPON, accounting for more than 90% of bids, emerging as the main choice for network technology. Huawei won the largest share of the bids; Fiberhome (600498.SH) followed close behind with a nearly 20% share. Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB), Ericsson (the only foreign manufacturer selected), and ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) were also selected.
