Harbin Unicom Offers Free 4 Mbps Broadband Trial

C114.net, 8/25/09

China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) Harbin branch will offer a free trial of 4 Mbps broadband services targeting former or new subscribers to its year-long broadband package, as well as prepaid broadband users. Harbin Unicom has not yet announced pricing for its 4 Mbps service, but the number of areas throughout the city capable of 4 Mbps connections is fairly small.

Harbin Unicom's current broadband pricing policy falls into three categories: 1.5 MBps access, charged at RMB 70/month for 100 hours, or RMB 58/month for 60 hours; 2 Mbps access, charged at RMB 1,080 per year for 300 hours a month, or RMB 1,200 a year for 744 hours a month; and 3 Mbps access at RMB 200 per month for 744 hours a month.
