Baidu Yi OS May Fork from Android

Sohu IT, 12/20/11

Wang Jin, VP for technology with Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), recently revealed that while the Baidu Yi mobile operating system and Android are both based on Linux, as more developers release apps for Baidu's platform, it may become incompatible with Android.

Wang also revealed details of Baidu's "7-2-1" investment strategy, in which 70% of resources are currently being invested in search engine and profitable operations, 20% in Baidu Post Bar and other mature businesses, and 10% in new experimental businesses. However, Wang said, Baidu's investment in R&D for the Baidu Yi platform far exceeds 10%.
