China's Satellite Navigation Market to Reach RMB 225 Bln in 2015

According to the 2011 Report on China's Mapping Information Industry Development, recently released by the Surveying and Mapping Development Center at China's National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASMG), China's satellite navigation industry has entered a phase of rapid development that will lead to an estimated industry value of more than RMB 225 bln in 2015, by which point Chinese civilians could own a total of approximately 340 mln satellite navigation devices. More than 5,000 companies and organizations are currently engaged in the satellite navigation applications and services industry, which was valued at more than RMB 50 bln in 2010. There are now more than 80,000 terminals supporting the Chinese-developed Beidou satellite navigation system, with more than 30,000 active users.
