Zhejiang Government Suspends Acer Supplier Qualification

Government Procurement Information, 3/20/12

A recent random survey conducted by the procurement office of the Zhejiang provincial government of electronic products that won government bids between June and August 2011 found that some products provided by the Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer (2353.TW), including the TravelMate 4750G, TravelMate 8481, and TravelMate 8437G, were provided at agreed supply prices roughly 20% higher than the market prices for the products during the same period. The Zhejiang provincial government has elected to suspend Acer's 2011-2012 computing product supplier qualifications for a six-month period. Toshiba and other brands were found to have acted similarly to Acer.

Editor's Note: "Agreed supply" refers to suppliers and products selected through a public bidding process.
