Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer (2353.TW) recently launched four Olympic-themed products in Beijing, and reached a marketing and sales partnership with the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Chinese National Swimming Team. Scott Lin, Acer global vice president and president for the Greater China region, said that the company's Mainland China sales had grown from RMB 790 mln in 2009 to RMB 2.3 bln in 2011, a threefold increase.
The Olympic-themed products announced by Acer are, respectively, the Acer Aspire V3 notebook, the Iconia Tab A510 tablet, the Acer Z5770 all-in-one PC, and the P238HL display. All four devices bear Acer and Olympic insignias.
Acer has also announced five Olympic strategies for the China market, including: sponsoring the China swim team; donating RMB 2 mln worth of computing equipment to 58 Project Hope schools; a project promoting the Olympic spirit at more than 250 institutions of higher learning in 15 cities, which began in 2011; subsidizing computing equipment for Olympic journalists; and broad-ranging media partnerships and an increased investment in marketing.
