Nanjing Suspends Additional Deployment of Shared Bikes

Techweb, 8/06/17

The Nanjing municipal transportation administration, public security administration, and urban management bureau recently issued a joint decision to prohibit shared bicycle service operators from deploying additional bicycles in the city before the end of 2017, effective immediately. During the intervening period the quantity of shared bicycles operated within Nanjing will be recorded, and following the period all bicycles operated by online rental service providers will need to be licensed or risk confiscation.

Editor's Note: At the end of July, Henan Province's capital city of Zhengzhou also announced that it would temporarily suspend expansion of shared bicycle services within its jurisdiction.
