Beijing-based mobile e-sports organizer and promoter Hero Interactive Technology (430127.NEEQ) recently completed RMB 1.7 bln in pre-IPO funding led by China State-owned Venture Capital with participation from Shaanxi Culture Industry Investment Group and Gopher Asset Management.
Hero Interactive is engaged primarily in mobile e-sports development and operations. The company operates dozens of mobile e-sports titles, including first person shooter Crisis Action and third-person naval shooter Dianfeng Zhanjian.
Chinese online news media DoNews reported on January 5 this year that Hero Interactive would move its business registration to one of Shaanxi province's poorer counties. Hero Interactive also announced a partnership proposal with the municipal government of Yan'an in Shaanxi, in which Hero Interactive would move its company registration to Yan'an in return for local government support towards a stock market listing. After moving its registration, Hero Interactive and Yan'an plan to jointly establish and operate an internet sports industry investment fund, partner on the construction of an internet sports software park and Hero Interactive sports park, and establish an e-sports degree at Yan'an University. Hero Interactive's move to Shaanxi effectively serves to fast-track the company for an IPO.
