Rumor: Today's Headlines to Launch Enterprise IM Product in H1 2018
Jiemian, 3/03/18
Beijing-based Bytedance Technology, operator of online and mobile news platform Today's Headlines, is reportedly internally incubating an enterprise instant messaging product, dubbed "Lark," which could be released as early as H1 2018.
Today's Headlines pushed Lark for employee daily work in early November, according to a source at the company. Previously, Today's Headlines had used internet conglomerate Alibaba Group's (NYSE: BABA) DingTalk for team collaboration.
According to the source, Lark is aiming for efficiency. Overall features are similar to the enterprise edition of Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app and DingTalk, but Lark also has a number of unique designs. For example, unlike most IMs, dialogs on Lark appear on the left-hand side.
Today's Headlines is also currently recruiting large numbers of experts in voice and video real-time communication in Beijing, which is the reported base of Lark's R&D team.
Today's Headlines told one media outlet that Lark is only for the company's internal use, and that the company has no plans to release it.
