JD.com, Wal-Mart Invest USD 500 Mln in Online Grocery Delivery Platform Dada-JD Daojia

Online grocery delivery platform Dada-JD Daojia (New Dada), operated by Shanghai-based Qusheng Network Technology, recently announced completion of USD 500 mln in new funding from Wal-Mart and Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD).
JD.com said that New Dada will operate as a same-city express delivery information services platform and a borderless retail instant consumption platform. Its mobile O2O logistics crowdsourcing platform Dada currently covers more than 400 cities throughout China, serves more than 1.2 mln merchant users and over 50 mln individual users, and handles up to 8-digit daily transaction volume. In addition, New Dada's O2O local life services platform JD Daojia covers nearly 40 major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, has more than 50 mln registered users including over 20 mln monthly-active users, and handles up to 1 mln orders per day.
Since JD Daojia and Wal-Mart announced a strategic partnership in October 2016, approximately 200 Wal-Mart stores have joined the JD Daojia platform to offer one-hour express delivery services in 30 major cities throughout China.
