Shanghai Leads China with 89% 4G Penetration Among Mobile Subs in February 2019

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released statistics detailing the country's total number of fixed-line telephone subscribers (registered accounts) and mobile subscribers by province as of the end of February 2019. China finished the month with more than 182 mln fixed-line subs and over 1.583 bln mobile subs.
Southern China's Guangdong was the province with the greatest number of mobile subs at almost 169 mln, or approximately 10.7% of the total, followed by Shandong with over 106 mln, or roughly 6.7%.
Nationwide 4G penetration, the percentage of China's total mobile subscribers using 4G services, surpassed 75% in February. The five provinces with the highest 4G penetration rates were Shanghai with 88.8%, followed by Guangdong (80.7%), Fujian (80.2%), Beijing (80.0%), and Hainan (78.8%). The five provinces with the lowest 4G penetration rates were Xinjiang (41.3%), Heilongjiang (68.5%), Jilin (69.9%), Shandong (70.2%), and Chongqing (71.1%).
