MIIT: China Adds 249,000 Cellular Base Stations in Q2 2020

China deployed approximately 359,000 new cellular base stations during the six months from January to June, 2020, according to key communications industry infrastructure indicators newly released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The H1 total represents an increase of approximately 249,000 base stations in Q2 2020, compared to the 110,000 year-to-date figure previously reported for the end of Q1 2020, and brings China's total number of cellular base stations to 8.77 mln. Of the total, approximately 5.60 mln, or 63.9%, are 4G base stations.

Starting from January 2020, MIIT began calculating net-increase-from-end-of-2019 figures based on data from its December 2019 monthly statistics report.
