9You to Increase Investment in Japanese Subsidiary

DoNews, 11/11/08

Chinese online game developer and operator 9You has announced that it plans to increase investment in its Japanese subsidiary, and will change the subsidiary's name to FiveStar Online Entertainment. Specific details of the investment are not yet clear, but a source claims that the investment also includes funds from an as-yet unnamed third-party. A spokesperson for 9you stated that FiveStar would use a local Japanese team and be responsible for both developing and operating online games. Development efforts at the subsidiary began back in mid-2008, and online game operation of 9you's Q-style 3D MMORPG Monster Forest Online is expected to begin by the end of 2008. In 2009, it is planned for FiveStar to operate 3-4 online games including games self-developed by 9you as well as titles licensed from third-parties.
