China Unicom, Netcom to Share IMS Core Network

At the third Strategic Forum on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Technology Development, held at the 2008 IMS Technology Summit currently being run in Beijing, former China Netcom (NYSE: CN; 0906.HK) Chief Engineer, Teng Yong, mentioned that China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) and China Netcom would temporarily use separate IP-based carrier networks, but would share a core network for their IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). China Unicom is in the process of reorganizing its internal IMS system and the general business platform being built by China Unicom and China Netcom is already interoperable with the IMS platform.
