China Mobile Outlines TD-SCDMA Network Construction Plan

At the TD-SCDMA Industry Value Chain Forum held on December 12, Wang Jianzhou, chairman and CEO of China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), stated that the company has formulated a network development plan extending from 2009 to 2011. In the first half of 2009, China Mobile will have completed TD-SCDMA coverage in 38 cities nationwide. From this base it will increase network coverage to 60% of all prefecture-level and above cities by the end of 2009, bringing the total number of cities with TD-SCDMA coverage to over 200. In 2010, the company plans to extend network coverage to 80% of prefecture-level cities, for a total of 266 cities with TD-SCDMA coverage. By 2011, TD-SCDMA network coverage for prefecture-level cities is expected to reach 95%, with coverage extending to 316 cities.
