7 Companies to Win SARFT Satellite TV STB Bids

The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) issued a solicitation for bids for satellite TV reception equipment, and released the results of its evaluation on December 18. Changhong (600839.SH), Jiuzhou, Shenzhou, Hisense (600060.SH), SVA Communication, Coship (002052.SZ), and Haier had winning bids. Bid amounts ranged from RMB 580,000 to 450,000; according to a source familiar with the situation, adjustments will need to be made to the bid amounts, with more specific amounts to be announced in the near future.

Prices for the set-top boxes to be procured ranged from RMB 340-360 per unit.
