China Unicom Delays Launch of Two Android Handsets

Fawan, 1/15/10

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) has announced that it has indefinitely postponed the release of two handsets powered by Google's Android mobile OS originally scheduled for January 20. China Unicom first said it had no choice but to postpone the release in the wake of Google's possible withdrawal from China, but then later said the delay was due to debugging problems. Motorola and Samsung, manufacturers of the two handsets, said it was inconvenient to comment at this time. Google was not available for comment.
