Rumor: Former Amoi President Heads New Handset Company

Sohu IT, 4/06/10

On April 6, informed sources revealed that Li Xiaozhong, former president of Chinese consumer electronics and mobile phone manufacturer Amoi Electronics (which has since been restructured into a logistics company), has reentered the mobile phone industry with a new company named 'Xialang.' A mobile handset company with RMB 35 mln in registered capital, Xialang currently outsources the majority of its handset production. The company grew out of Amoi's former Shanghai R&D center, and its core staff are all former Amoi managers. The company is expected to announce its own mobile phone brand, 'NAMO,' on April 8, at which time it will release 10 handset models, including six 3G and four 2G handsets.
