Taobao Updates Product Sample Center

Chinese B2C and C2C e-commerce company Taobao will unveil a new edition of its Taobao Trial Center (try.taobao.com) on May 10. A Taobao Trial Center manager said the new edition will continue to ensure a simple process for users to try out products, while adding additional sample products and product categories. After the upgrade, the number of sample products available each day will grow from 50 to over 200, with quantities of over 10,000 units available, from categories including cosmetics, digital electronics, furniture, food and childcare.
To use the service, Taobao Trial Center testers log in, select a product and then write a review for similar products in the same category, after which they can apply to receive a free trial item. Once the application is approved, a sample product will be sent by courier and the tester is required to submit a report on their product experience. The new edition of the center will offer 20 iPod Touch mp3 players as a promotion.
A spokesperson for the center said that the majority of sample products come from online merchants, and over 1 mln users have joined the Taobao Trial Center.
