Foxconn to Increase Salary for Third Time

Sina Tech, 6/07/10

Following last week's commitment to raise workers' salaries by 30%, Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Hon Hai (2317.TW) made another announcement on Sunday, promising that new employees of its Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) factory in Shenzhen would see their monthly salary raised to RMB 2,000, up over 66% from an initial RMB 1,200, following successful completion of a three-month trial employment period.

Hon Hai added that a salary adjustment for managerial-level employees of the Shenzhen facility will be announced prior to August 1. Foxconn factories in other regions of China will also see salary adjustments in accordance with local living costs and social welfare policies, to be announced by July 1 at the earliest.
