China's Central Bank Records 260 Applicants for Payment Licenses

A source from within the People's Bank of China (PBoC) has revealed that as of the end of the first quarter of 2010, a total of 260 legal representatives of non-financial institutions have submitted applications to register for payment services. The majority of applying institutions are involved in services such as online payment, mobile payment, telephone payment and pre-paid card distribution.
