TCL, Toshiba Establish China TV Sales JV

TCL Corporation (000100.SZ) has announced an agreement with Toshiba to establish a joint venture, Toshiba Visual Products (China), which will sell Toshiba brand TV sets on the mainland China market. The two parties will invest a total of RMB 50 mln in the new company, with Toshiba holding 51% and TCL holding 49% through a Huizhou-based sales subsidiary. Toshiba Visual Products (China) will be based in Huizhou and is expected to begin operations in September 2010.

TCL and Toshiba have jointly appointed Li Jianxin, former services director and GM of the Distribution Development Center at TCL Multimedia's (1070.HK) China Business Center, as GM of the new JV.

In addition, Toshiba Video Products (China) will also help Toshiba expand its China TV business by providing ODM services through TCL.
