Rumor: Tencent to Launch MeeGo Handset

A source inside Chinese internet and wireless value-added services company Tencent (0700.HK) recently revealed to Sohu IT that the company will release a self-branded handset running the MeeGo operating system toward the end of the year. The source revealed that Tencent had decided to release its own handset last year, and that planning had begun in earnest at the start of this year.
Information received from another source says that the handset will not run the stock MeeGo install, opting rather for a custom-developed version of the operating system that emphasizes Tencent branding and applications.
