China Telecom to Embed App Store in Handsets

Liu Shuang, director of China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) E-Surfing Space App Market, said yesterday that starting in H2 of this year, China Telecom will pre-install its E-Surfing Space client on all operator-customized handsets. Liu also announced that the operator has reached a deal with the Chengdu Municipal Party Committee to establish an innovation and planning center in Chengdu, for which it plans to recruit an independent R&D team through training and recruitment at five universities in order to launch its "Youth Entrepreneur Plan."

Liu also revealed that in the future, content for E-Surfing Video will be distributed through the E-Surfing Space App Market, which will become China Telecom's largest distribution channel.
