Shanda Reorganizes Chess Game Subsidiary

TechWeb, 9/01/10

Hangzhou Bianfeng, the chess and board game developer subsidiary of Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA), has announced changes to its senior management. Former GM Pan Enlin has been promoted to CEO, while former Shanda Online COO Xu Chaojun has been appointed president. Ji Na, former head of Shanda Interactive's investment division, has been appointed vice president.

The company will also undergo corporate restructuring in order to improve operations, establishing four major departments under the chairman: users, market operations, technical support and customer service.

Bianfeng separates its content along three categories, chess games, board games, and competitive games, and organize each project team under a project manager.

Bianfeng has made preparations for a branch office in Beijing, according to industry sources, to open in Tsinghua Science Park in late September. The Beijing office will include parts of the marketing, product and operations departments, focusing first on social game community websites and SNS client applications.
