Rumor: Ping Pong Legend to Run People's Daily Search Engine

According to Zhan Guoshu, former editor-in-chief for the overseas edition of the People's Daily, former ping-pong star Deng Yaping will join the People's Daily as deputy chief secretary and president of the People's Daily's search site Goso.cn. A number of industry sources familiar with the situation have confirmed Zhan's report. Another rumor states that the People's Daily made an internal announcement about Deng's appointment last week, and is seeking feedback.

The appointment has not yet been officially confirmed.

Former ChinaLandscape (so668.com) acting president and IT168 editor-in-chief Geng Yingying also recently joined the Goso.cn team, where she will oversee marketing efforts.
