Lenovo Launches Mobile Application Incubator Fund

Chinese laptop, PC, and handset manufacturer Lenovo (0992.HK) launched its RMB 100 mln LeFund angel investment fund at the 2010 Lenovo Mobile Internet Developers Conference today in Beijing. The LeFund will provide funding to start-up or early-stage mobile internet application and services developers. Chinese e-reader application firm Guangzhou Hua Yue Digital Technology will be the first recipient company.

According to data from Lenovo, developers have submitted more than 2,000 applications to Lenovo's mobile application market since its launch in May, and over 1,000 have been made available. 2,774 individual developers and teams have joined the platform, as well as 542 corporate developers. Total downloads to date have exceeded 2 mln, and daily average downloads have exceeded 20,000 since October.
