Rumor: Netease to Launch New Version of WoW in January

Sohu IT, 12/10/10

A source inside Chinese internet company Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) has revealed that version 3.3.5 of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King should be released around mid-January.

The source also said that the next expansion pack, Cataclysm, has been tentatively scheduled to launch around May of next year.

Recent industry reports said that the release of Cataclysm, the third expansion pack for World of Warcraft, in every other country around the world had led to a definite decline in the number of gamers using Chinese servers. Under pressure from mainland gamers, Blizzard and Netease decided to upgrade directly from version 3.2 of the Lich King expansion pack to version 3.3.5 in order to catch up with the rest of the world.
