The9 May Recruit Japanese Manga Artist to Design MMO

Shanghai-based online game developer and operator The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY) may form a game design partnership with Japanese manga artist Masami Kurumada, according to Japanese media.

Kurumada is known for his manga series Fuma no Kojiro and Saint Seiya.

The9 previously announced an agreement with Kadokawa Shoten Publishing for a number of its manga artists to participate in the art design work for The9's self-developed 2.5D MMORPG Shenxian Zhuan, which led to its contact with Kurumada.

A representative for The9 confirmed that the gaming firm was in contact with Kurumada through a Japanese publisher and the two parties were currently in negotiations.
