The9, Gehua to Jointly Launch HD Cable DTV Gaming Platform

Shanghai-based online game developer and operator The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY) and Beijing-based cable and broadband operator Gehua CATV Network (600037.SH) have formed a partnership under which they will jointly launch "Youxi Shijie" ("Game World"), a gaming and entertainment service platform for interactive HD DTV subscribers.
The9 said that Game World will offer edutainment, strategy, and board- and card-game products. Subscribers will be able to interact with other gamers and games through the platform.
Since establishing its subsidiary 9iPlayTV.com in 2008, The9 has partnered with telecom IPTV operators and cable companies around China to launch TV-based gaming channels featuring more than 100 games. As the number of HDTV subscribers continues to steadily increase in all markets, The9 has decided to further expand its markets by upgrading all of its existing products to HD.
9iPlayTV.com has formed partnerships with operators including Gehua, Jiangsu Cable, Xiamen Broadcasting & TV Network, and Shaanxi Broadcast & TV Network Intermediary.
