Rumor: Motorola to Close Nanjing Software R&D Center

Motorola may close its Nanjing software R&D center, according to an industry source, who said the company has already begun discussing compensation packages with the center's employees. Established in 1997, the center has over 500 software developers, making it Motorola's largest R&D center in China in terms of total employees. The center's research efforts are focused on mobile device software development, wireless P2P application solutions, and Push-to-Talk (PTT) software development and testing.
