MIIT to Issue TD-LTE Licenses after One Year

In an interview with Sohu IT today, Miao Wei, head of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), confirmed that the MIIT "has determined to issue TD-LTE licenses in about a year." Asked whether the licenses would be issued in 2013 or 2014, Miao said that no final decision had been reached. In an interview today, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) VP Li Huidi said that the operator would pursue a dual TD-SCDMA/TD-LTE development strategy.
