Rumor: Operator Releases 6th TD-SCDMA Equipment Tender Results
Sina Tech, 10/08/12
On October 8, an industry source revealed that results of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) sixth TD-SCDMA equipment tender have been released. The distribution of contracts for the two-stage tender, which will cover more than 130,000 base stations, closely mirrors that of the fifth TD-SCDMA tender, with domestic manufacturers continuing to receive an overwhelming majority of contracts. The operator reminded manufacturers not to submit bids quoting prices lower than equipment manufacturing costs.
According to the source, China Mobile has streamlined the tender policy workflow in hopes of speeding up implementation of its sixth phase of TD-SCDMA development - hence the similarity of sixth-phase tender results to those of fifth-phase results.
