Baidu Revamps Image Search

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) recently upgraded its image search service, updating back-end technologies including search algorithms and user-facing technologies like result display pages, while also increasing partnerships for image resources in order to secure a richer library of images to search from.

The new Baidu Image search page has replaced text links below the search field with image links to ten channels, including "Pretty Girls," "Food," "Travel and Scenery," "Coordinated Outfits," and "Innovative Design." Clicking on these will take users to a page featuring further sub-categories and cascading pages of thumbnails that will expand upon a mouseover action for greater ease of viewing. The top right-hand corner of the page features Baidu's recommendation for other image sites.
