Foodie SNS Douguo Lands USD 8 Mln Second-Round Funding

According to reliable industry sources, foodie SNS Douguo received USD 8 mln in second-round funding from Granite Global Ventures (GGV) several months ago.

Funding arrangements were confirmed during H1 2012, the source said, but never made public until GGV confirmed in August that it had set up its own fund. GGV has announced that it raised a fourth round of funding worth USD 625 mln, from which it has made investments in multiple projects including Douguo and online fashion community Meilishuo.

Douguo was established in early 2008 by Wang Yuxiang and former 7K7K VP Zhu Hong. The site has more than 1 mln registered users, and its "Douguo Meishi" mobile app, which offers nearly 100,000 Chinese-language recipes, has been downloaded nearly 6 mln times.
