China Telecom IPTV STB Bid Prices Reach Record Lows

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) today announced that bids in its 2012 IPTV set-top box (STB) tender for 3.54 mln SD STBs and 1.25 mln HD STBs have reached record lows.
The average bid price per unit for SD STBs was RMB 175.62, with Dareglobal placing the lowest bid of RMB 156, followed by UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) with RMB 168.84, Guangdong Unionman Technology and Changhong (600839.SH) with RMB 169, Huawei with RMB 186 and ZTE with (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) with RMB 196.
The average price per unit for HD STBs was RMB 252, with UTStarcom submitting the lowest bid of RMB 219, followed by Dareglobal with RMB 226, Hisense (600060.SH) with RMB 234, Huawei with RMB 280 and ZTE with RMB 305.
In total eleven firms participated in the SD STB tender: Huawei, ZTE, Haier, Fiberhome (600498.SH), Dareglobal, Coship (002052.SZ), Unionman, Changhong, UTStarcom, Skyworth (0751.HK), and Sunniwell. Twelve firms participated in the HD STB tender: Huawei, ZTE, Dareglobal, Sunniwell, Fiberhome, Coship, Hisense, Skyworth, 30Kaitian, UTStarcom, Changhong, and Haier.
