Alipay Incorporates Audio Payment into Vending Machines

Chinese third-party payment processor Alipay and vending machine manufacturer Qingdao Easy Touch have announced a new jointly developed "audio payment" vending machine. As described by Alipay spokesperson Wang Yuming, the audio payment vending machines have been outfitted with special Alipay audio modules, which allow them to record and process Alipay audio payment codes played from user mobile handsets.

Alipay audio payment codes do not contain user account information, but rather pertain to a specific payment transaction and are effective for no more than five minutes, which serves to protect user account information.

Alipay plans to incorporate audio payment technologies into more lifestyle products in the future.
