iQiyi Introduces Targeted Video Ad Product Based on Baidu Data

CCID, 5/09/13

Chinese internet firm Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) online video subsidiary, iQiyi, has launched a targeted video advertising product based on Baidu search behavior data called "Yisou Baiying." The product is currently being used on a trial basis by over 20 well-known brands such as Samsung, Land Rover, Dell, and Fanta.

iQiyi's new "Yisou Baiying" product optimizes video ads by displaying advertisements according to keywords users input in Baidu's search engine. For instance, if a user searched for "car purchase taxes" in the last month using Baidu, advertisements for Land Rover, BMW, and Volkswagon will appear when that user opens iQiyi to watch a video. The advertising product also has interactive functionality, allowing users to register for services, play video games, and share information directly to SNS sites from the advertisement shown before the user's chosen video is played.
