SAPPRFT to Tighten Internet TV Regulations

Lmtw.com, 5/16/13

Tian Jin, deputy director of China's State Administration of Press and Publication, Radio, Film, and Television (SAPPRFT), said today that the newly established body will devise criteria for continued participation in internet television development and management, and will ensure that internet TV aggregation service and content service organizations operating in violation of regulations will be expelled from the industry.

Tian said that SAPPRFT will coordinate a crackdown on the manufacture and sale of unlicensed internet TV "black boxes," as well as on organizations holding internet TV licenses that violate the scope of their licenses by offering content for unlicensed set-top boxes (STBs).
