Sina Developing Independent News Blogger Platform

Du Hong, COO and Co-President of Chinese internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), has revealed that Sina is in the process of developing an independent media platform, providing support for independent news bloggers such as content production tools, special independent blogger columns, and news broadcast solutions. The company will also release accompanying policies and systems regarding advertising revenue sharing.

According to Du, Sina is in the process of transforming from a traditional online portal to an online media platform. A large proportion of traffic on Sina's browser portal currently comes from special columns and self-published media content. Moving forward, Sina's media platform will not only employ an advertising revenue sharing model, but e-commerce and value-added services revenue share.
