Rumor: China Mobile Hits 100K 4G Service Pre-Orders

According to an industry source, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) TD-LTE service pre-order customers have reached 100,000, despite the company having yet to obtain a 4G license. The majority of pre-orders are concentrated in the provinces of Guangdong and Zhejiang, with pre-orders also underway in Shanghai, Chengdu, Jiangsu, and Qingdao.
Within Guangdong province, Guangzhou city TD-LTE pre-orders alone have exceeded 50,000, with 4,600 TD-LTE base stations already built in Guangzhou and 3,700 in neighboring Shenzhen. Guangdong Mobile plans to add another 20,000 4G base stations to provide coverage to the entire province of Guangdong.
Guangdong Mobile began 4G pre-orders at the end of September 2013, offering monthly plans ranging from RMB 138 to RMB 338. The company will reportedly begin processing of 4G pre-orders this week, granting trial network access.
