Tencent Connects Myapp Store with Open Platform App Store
Tencent Open Platform, 11/29/13
Wang Zhixiong, director of mobile app platform operations at Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK), has announced that the company will integrate its Myapp app library with Tencent's open developer platform (open.qq.com) in early December. According to Wang, Myapp will cover app distribution across all 8 of Tencent's major PC and mobile apps, including mobile messaging application WeChat (Weixin), instant messaging platform QQ, SNS and blogging service Qzone, QQ Browser, Tencent Mobile Manager, Tencent PC Manager, and Sogou's mobile input method editor (IME). Developers need only upload their product to Myapp to see it available as an in-app download across each of the above-mentioned platforms.
Upon the upcoming release of version 3.7 of Myapp, all new releases of popular Tencent apps and games will be given exclusive first release on Myapp, including WeChat, Mobile QQ, and initial closed beta releases of mobile games such as Daily Racing. With the new version of Myapp, over 90% of apps will also offer reduced data usage when downloaded, saving an average of 60% of data per download.
Editor's Note: Tencent holds a stake of 36.5% in Sogou.
