Rumor: Xiaomi to Enter Mobile Payment Market

An industry source has revealed that Beijing-based Android device maker Xiaomi has quietly acquired the domain name mipay.com, possibly in a move to enter the mobile payment market. Xiaomi has not responded to the rumors.

Mipay.com was originally registered in July 2003, but domain information for the site was updated on December 18, 2013. The new domain owner also holds the rights to mizhifu.net (Xiaomi Pay.net), Xiaomiqianbao.cn (Xiaomi Wallet.cn), and Xiaomiqianbao.net. (Xiaomi Wallet.net).
