Rumor: Tencent to Release Enterprise-facing WeChat Accounts

Lieyun, 6/15/14

According to an industry insider, Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) is planning to release "enterprise accounts" to software developers and enterprises on the company's WeChat mobile messaging platform. Compared with existing WeChat official accounts, used by celebrities and companies on WeChat to interact with "followers," enterprise accounts will be used to manage company employees, and offer enterprises in China a larger array of API support, stricter verification standards, and other improved functionality.

Through the accounts, company employees will be able to conduct online meetings, setup company inboxes, establish individual pages and groups for specific departments, manage clients and employees, and conduct surveys of employee and customer satisfaction.
